  Biography
Shaheen Ladhani earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology and Managerial Studies from Rice University and a Masters degree in Sport and Performance Psychology. During his graduate work at the University of Houston he concentrated his efforts (under the guidance of Dr. Dale Pease and Dr. John Eliot) on the psychology of elite human performance. His thesis focused on performance enhancement of the elite athlete. The study looked at tennis players and their mindsets before and after a match and how that impacted performance level. Shaheen is a member of the International Society of Mental Training and Excellence. (ISMTE)

As a coach and performance consultant, Shaheen's experience is vast. He has worked with a myriad of athletes and performers. Andrea Blackett (Commonwealth Games Gold medalist), Toni Ciffolilli (Australian National Gold Medalist swimmer), Richard and William Barker (NCAA Tennis Champions) are only a few to name. These athletes have achieved remarkable success with the help of Shaheen's mental skills training. His expertise in the psychology of human performance has enabled these athletes to gain control of their psyche and shift their entire experience of what it is to be an "elite performer".

Shaheen is based at Rice University, fondly known as the "Harvard of the South". It has been consistently rated as one of the most elite academic institutions in the United States of America. Rice is also a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). This organization oversees college sports throughout the country. Rice competes at the NCAA Division 1 level; which is the elite level of college sport competition in the USA.

Under Shaheen's guidance and leadership, the Rice Men's tennis team has emerged as one of the top nationally ranked teams. Many players from the team, all of whom he recruited and coached have joined the professional world of tennis. Several accolades and honors have been bestowed upon this team, its players and coaches as they contend for recognition as national front runners in their sport. Shaheen received the NCAA Coach of the Year award in 2004 and Regional Coach of the Year award in 2001. He was also named the national finalist for the assistant Coach of the Year in 2001.

In addition, Shaheen has generated a great love of tennis in the Houston community. As a result of Shaheen's passion and vision, the development and growth of the youth tennis program at Rice has been immense. Over the last few years kids and adults alike have developed a love for the sport. Further, this strong belief in the value of athletics has also led to the initiation of philanthropic projects such as bringing tennis to at-risk kids in the city of Houston . He also chaired the Annual Fulbright Cup Tennis Fundraiser in Houston for several years. This event has been a major success as it raised more than $150,000 for nationwide Fulbright Scholarship for overseas study.

Certainly it is evident that Shaheen has devoted his professional life to helping athletes and performers fulfill their potential by overcoming mental obstacles to peak performance. His passion and insight along with his background in coaching at the elite level is a dynamic combination. This enables many individuals and teams reach the upper echelons of their sport.
