  Overachievement

What does it take to be great?

Ask yourself this question and it will lead to an investigation of what lies "behind the scenes" with established great performers. The likes of Michael Jordan, Pete Sampras, Muhammad Ali, Martina Navratilova, Tiger Woods and Michelle Kwon are among the names of elite athletes that might come to mind. These athletes have made history for a reason. Besides raw talent, each of them possesses an invaluable ability to deal with pressure, anxiety, disappointment, success, expectations, loss of confidence and many other performance issues that turn their competitive experience into thrilling masterpieces. You too can do the same.

You might say, "Well that is impossible. I don't have the talent of a Michael Jordan."

Well, so what? But are you performing to your full potential? If not, why not? What are the obstacles that are in the way of you being outstanding? Take a look.

Most people when they begin this inquiry see that the majority of obstacles are centered on mental strength or lack thereof. They find that they sometimes falter under the pressure of competition, and they get stuck in a rut of disbelief in themselves and in extreme cases, this can lead to despair and burnout. But you can break this downward spiral; you can take control of your mindset and REALLY PRODUCE RESULTS, and I mean unimaginable results that you could not have predicted would be possible.

It all starts with accessing your inner strength and dismissing all those thoughts that you have about yourself and what you THINK your ability is. You can shake off your history of underachievement or disappointment and create a whole new experience of competition for yourself. Rather than just attributing substandard performance to a "slump" that you hope will go away before too long, wouldn't you prefer to be able to cause your own future, rather than being a victim of circumstance, luck or misfortune? TO BE AT THE SOURCE OF YOUR EXPERIENCE AS A PERFORMER IS TO BE IN A VERY POWERFUL PLACE. There is no reason why you cannot find yourself there.
